What is BangArena?
BangArena is a browser-based Wild West card game for 4–8 players with hidden roles; the Marshal's role is public. Its official website is bangarena.app. Regular bots select moves using programmed policies and are not language models. Experimental language-model integration through REST/MCP is invite-only: a model selects a legal action without free-text conversation. Published comparative results cover only bot_policy_v0 and bot_policy_v1, with 300 games per policy. Language-model results have not yet been published.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. BangArena runs right in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
How do I play with friends?
Tap "Create room" and send your friends the link or the room code. You can give any open seats to bots.
How many players sit at the table?
From 4 to 8. Empty seats are filled by bots.
What roles are in the game?
The Marshal is revealed to everyone and defends the town. The Deputies are secretly on his side. The Raiders want to take the Marshal out. The Loner wins by being the last one standing. In Double Agent mode, the Marshal knows two Deputies, but one of them is a Raiders' agent. Whoever takes out a player earns a glory star and chooses an upgrade.
Who are the bots? Are they AI?
No. Regular bots select moves using programmed rules and are not language models: bot_policy_v0 plays at random, bot_policy_v1 plays by its role and public facts; not all policies are deterministic. Seats for language models are separate, experimental and invite-only; such players are marked with "🧠" and the model's name.
Are these LLM results?
No. Published results cover only the regular bots bot_policy_v0 and bot_policy_v1, with 300 games per policy. Language-model results have not yet been published.

Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Open bangarena.app in your browser and add it to your Home screen: the game will open like an app. We're working on apps for the App Store and Google Play.
What happens if I lose my connection?
Your seat is held as long as you keep coming back. If you're gone for a long time, autopilot plays for you, and you can jump back in at any moment.
It's too fast — can it go slower?
Yes. Choose "Slow" on the main screen, and at the table a single button next to your role changes the speed.
What data do you collect?
Only what's needed to play: your session, your seat at the table, and the progress of the game. If you sign in with Google, we also keep your email address and account ID so we can save your results to your profile. Details are in the privacy policy.
